How scoring works
When you call a video, a 24-hour timer starts. When it matures (or you cash out early), your reward and card Score lock in for good using these factors:
The early-bird bonus is tiered by creator size: "early" means something different for a channel with 500 subs vs. 7 million, so bigger channels get a bigger grace window before the bonus decays. Every tier still caps out at the same 2.0x.
| Creator tier | 2.0x if called under | 1.5x if under | 1.25x if under | Else |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unknown (<1,000 subs) | 50 likes | 200 likes | 1,000 likes | 1.0x |
| Small (1,000β50,000) | 150 likes | 600 likes | 3,000 likes | 1.0x |
| Mid (50,000β500,000) | 500 likes | 2,000 likes | 10,000 likes | 1.0x |
| Big (500,000β2,000,000) | 1,500 likes | 6,000 likes | 30,000 likes | 1.0x |
| Mega (2,000,000+) | 4,000 likes | 15,000 likes | 75,000 likes | 1.0x |
A second factor discounts calls on creators who already have a big built-in audience.
A third factor rewards patience. Cashing out early gets you a reduced payout, and holding the full 24 hours to natural maturity earns a bonus on top of the full rate.
Cashing out the instant you call gets you next to nothing, the hold factor scales up linearly the longer you wait, so patience is the single biggest lever you control.
Your credit reward combines all three, plus a boost card if you applied one to Reward:
reward = round( growth^0.5 Γ bonus Γ size factor Γ hold factor Γ boost Γ scale )
growth = final likes Γ· likes when you called it, curved with a square root so massive spikes don't explode the payout
Reward has a cap so a single freak catch can't flood the economy. A boost card raises your own cap when you use it, on top of raising the reward itself:
Every settled call also mints a card. Its Score uses the same bonus, size, and hold factors, applied to how much the video grew rather than raw likes gained, so a skillful small-channel call can outscore a mega-channel card pulled purely from scale. Score is out of 1,000, and gets harder to move the closer it gets to the top, so no single catch can ever tower over the rest of the game:
score = round( 1000 Γ raw Γ· (raw + 120) )
raw = βgrowth Γ bonus Γ size factor Γ hold factor Γ boost (if applied to Score)
When you apply a boost card, you choose whether its multiplier goes toward Reward or Score, not both. Boosting Reward pays off most on your biggest catches. Boosting Score matters most on an everyday call, since Score's slowdown near the top means a boost can't meaningfully break the ceiling on an already-huge catch.
Rarity is a separate random roll at mint time, unrelated to growth or score, but it does get one more say: your card's final power is the Score above, multiplied again by the rarity's own multiplier (Silver Γ1.00, Gold Γ1.25, Diamond Γ1.50, Perfect Γ2.00). There's also an independent 1% chance for any card to come out Holo, regardless of rarity.
Every settled call also awards XP toward your level, based on the card's final power (after the rarity multiplier above), with a small guaranteed minimum even on a weak catch:
xp = round( max( 10, final power Γ 0.85 ) )
Boosting a pick's XP (instead of Reward or Score) applies its multiplier here too. XP is fully separate from Reward and Score, it never changes your payout or your card.
All multipliers lock in the moment you make the call (or when you cash out), they never change, no matter what anyone else does.
Combine & Salvage

Burn Pick or Starter cards for Picks: Silver β 1, Gold β 3, Diamond β 5, Perfect β 10. Fill as many of the 6 slots as you like, none are required. The daily limit counts cards, not Picks, so a Perfect is the most a single burn can be worth. Locked (Auction House) cards can't be used. Burned cards leave your inventory for good, and the video is freed so you can Hypecall it again.
π Boost Recharge
Refill a spent Boost card back to full charges for credits. No second card is consumed. Cost by rarity: Silver 600, Gold 1,200, Diamond 2,400, Perfect 4,000.

Card Details
Your first Hypecall, start to finish
Exactly what to click, in order. If a step says click something, that's the whole step.
Hypecall is a game about spotting videos before they blow up. You call one while it still has very few likes, wait 24 hours, and get a card based on how much it grew.
Make an account
Tap Sign up. Pick a username and password. You'll land on Home with 3 free starter cards waiting for you, just for showing up.
Find a video that's still small
Find a YouTube video or Short that feels like it's about to take off, but doesn't have many likes yet. A brand new video, a Short from a small creator: anything that feels early.
Copy the video's link
On YouTube, tap Share under the video, then Copy link.
Paste it into Hypecall and call it
Go to Make A Hypecall, paste the link, and press Call it. This spends 1 of your Picks. You start with up to 20 and they slowly refill on their own.
Wait: a 24-hour timer just started
Your call shows up under On the Clock. For the next 24 hours Hypecall quietly checks how many more likes it gets.
Get your card
Once the timer ends (or you cash out), your call moves to Ready to Open. Open it for a trading card, plus credits. The bigger the video grew, the better the card.
Every card also gets a random rarity.
Do it again
That's the loop: call β wait β open β repeat. Every Pick refills on its own over time, so keep an eye out for videos that look early.
You don't need any of this to keep playing. It's just what your cards are for once you have a small collection.
What's the difference between Picks and credits?
Picks are what you spend to call a video. Credits are what you earn from a call and can spend on other things, like bidding in the Auction House.
I ran out of Picks. Am I stuck?
No. Picks refill on their own over time. If you don't want to wait, you can also burn a spare card for a few instant Picks on the Combine & Salvage tab.
Do I need to do anything while the 24-hour timer runs?
No. It runs in the background whether the app is open or not.
Why did my card come out a low rarity even though the video grew a lot?
Rarity is a separate random roll from how well the video did. A low scoring card can roll Diamond, or you could get a 500 score Silver.
FAQ
Getting Started
What is Hypecall?
Hypecall turns the "investing at 20 likes" comments you see on viral videos into an actual game. You spot a video before it blows up, "call it," and get scored on how right you were, no real money involved.
I'm brand new, do I start with anything?
Yes, every new account gets 3 free starter cards immediately, so there's something to try in Duels, the Auction House, and your Showcase before your first real pick even matures.
Is there a browser extension?
Yes, the Hypecall extension adds a "Hypecall it" button directly on YouTube video pages, next to Like/Share. Click it and it reads the video's title, current like count, and channel info straight off the page, then calls it for you, no copy-pasting the link into the site. You still need to be logged into your Hypecall account (the extension has its own quick login), and the usual rules still apply: one call per video, ever, and it spends a Pick like normal. Grab it from the "Add to Chrome" button on the Home page.
Is real money involved anywhere?
Only in the Premium shop: Picks, credits, and Premium itself can be purchased there with a real card via Stripe. None of your in-game currency has any real-world cash value or can be cashed back out.
Hypecalls & Picks
How does calling a video work?
Find a real video (paste a YouTube/Shorts link, or use the browser extension), hit "Call it" while it still has a low like count. A 24-hour timer starts, and when it ends, your reward locks in based on how much the video grew. You can only call each video once, ever, so timing matters.
Can I cash out before the 24 hours are up?
Yes, "Cash out early" on the On the Clock page settles your pick immediately using the current numbers, giving up any further growth. There's a real tradeoff though: cashing out very early gives you only a small slice of what the pick would've paid at full maturity, so it's worth waiting unless you need the card right now. See "How scoring works" for the exact math.
What are Picks?
Picks are what you spend to call a video. You have up to 20 at a time (40 if you're Premium), and they refill on their own: 1 every 15 minutes.
How do I get more Picks?
Picks refill on their own, 1 every 15 minutes, up to 20 (40 if you're Premium). You can also burn cards for Picks on the Combine & Salvage tab, or buy a Pick Pack in the Premium shop.
What's a multiplier?
Two multipliers decide your reward before any boost: an early-bird bonus (the fewer likes a video had when you called it, the bigger the bonus) and a creator-size factor (the smaller/less-known the channel, the bigger the factor). Both lock in the moment you call: call an unknown creator's video at 20 likes and you get the biggest possible multiplier; call a huge channel's video and the multiplier shrinks a lot, even if the raw growth is bigger. The exact tiers are on the "How scoring works" page.
How is my reward calculated?
Growth Γ early-bird bonus Γ creator-size factor Γ how long you held it Γ any boost, scaled and capped. The full step-by-step breakdown is on the "How scoring works" page, it's worth a read since a few of the factors (especially cashing out early) matter more than people expect.
Cards
What are cards?
Every settled call mints you a card: title, rarity, a Score, and a serial number. Cards can be applied as a boost to a future pick, used in Duels, burned for Picks or Combined into something stronger on the Combine & Salvage tab, listed in the Auction House, or shown off in your Profile Showcase.
What does Score mean on a card?
Score reflects how big a catch that call was (based on growth, timing, and creator size), then gets a final multiplier from the card's rarity. It's the number used for Duels and for ranking your collection's power.
What are the card rarities, and what are the odds?
Every settled call rolls one of 4 rarities: Silver (59% chance), Gold (35%), Diamond (5%), or Perfect (1%). Rarer tiers also multiply the card's final Score higher. On top of rarity, there's an independent 1% chance for any card to come out Holo (a shiny visual variant), regardless of rarity.
What's a "crafted" card?
A card whose current stats came from Combine rather than a straight pull, Combine always bumps a card's rarity up one tier and boosts its power, so a crafted card is one you leveled up yourself.
What's a Channel Card?
Settle 10 calls from the same creator and you automatically earn a bonus Channel Card for that channel, on top of your normal cards, fully repeatable. Check Card Inventory β Channel Card Tracker to see your progress toward the next one for every creator you've called. Channel Cards play as ordinary hand cards in Duels, same as Pick cards.
Boost Cards
How much do cards sell for?
Quicksell pays on a card's Score, scaled by rarity (Silver x1, Gold x1.5, Diamond x2.5, Perfect x4) and x1.5 again if it's Foil, so a high-Score card is worth a lot more than a low one. Every rarity also has a minimum, so a card with no Score is still worth its rarity: Silver 75, Gold 240, Diamond 800, Perfect 3,200 credits. Boost cards carry no Score at all, so they run on their own steeper ladder: Silver 80, Gold 400, Diamond 2,000, Perfect 7,000. Foil multiplies any of those by 1.5. Credit cards are the exception, they always redeem at the face value printed on them. Packs are meant to be a credit sink: on average a pack's cards quicksell for well under what the pack cost, with a real chance of a card worth several times it.
What do boost cards do?
Apply a Boost card to a Hypecall before you call it, boosting your reward, Score, or XP (you choose which one) by that Boost card's rarity: Silver +10%, Gold +25%, Diamond +60%, Perfect +100%. Only Boost cards can do this — regular Pick, Channel, Credit and Starter cards have no charges. Every Boost card carries 3 charges no matter its rarity, so rarity decides how hard a boost hits, not how many you get. Those 3 charges are shared with Duels, so spending one in a duel leaves fewer for your Hypecalls, and vice versa. Out of charges? Recharge it for credits on the Combine & Salvage tab.
My boost card is out of charges, what now?
Use Boost Recharge on the Combine & Salvage tab: pick the spent Boost card and pay credits to fill it back to 3 charges. Nothing else is consumed. It costs 300 credits for a Silver Boost, 600 for Gold, 1,200 for Diamond and 2,000 for Perfect.
Combine & Salvage
What is Combine?
Pick one card to keep and burn exactly 3 other cards (same card type, rarity, and creator as the one you're keeping) to make it stronger. Combining always bumps the kept card's rarity up one tier (SilverβGoldβGoldβDiamondβPerfect) and raises its power, plus a small independent chance to turn it Holo if it isn't already. Costs 1,000 credits + 5 Picks for Pick and Channel cards; Boost and Credit combines cost 3 Picks and no credits. Perfect cards can't be combined further, they're already the top tier. The 3 burned cards are gone from your inventory for good, and burning frees that video up to be Hypecalled again by you.
How is the power boost from combining actually calculated? (explained super simply)
Think of your kept card like a cup that can hold up to 2,500 power, tops, no card can ever go past that rim no matter what. The gap between your card's current power and that 2,500 line is the empty space it has left to fill.
Burning cards pours their combined power in like juice, and that juice fills up part of the empty space. The catch: the fuller the cup already is, the harder it gets to top off. Early pours fill it fast; once it's getting full, you need way more juice just to add a little more.
Example: you keep a 1,000-power card (1,500 power of empty space under the cap). Burn 3 cards worth 600 power total, that fills in 600 power's worth of space, landing you at 1,600 power. Now imagine your card was already at 2,000 power (only 500 power of empty space left) and you burned that exact same 600-power worth of cards again, this time you'd only gain about 200 power, landing at 2,200. Same "juice," way less effect, because there was way less empty space to fill. That's why combining a weaker card is a lot more effective than trying to push an already-strong card closer to the max.
What's Salvage / Burn for Picks?
Also on the Combine & Salvage tab: burn a card outright for an instant Picks payout based on its rarity, Silver = 1 Pick, Gold = 3 Picks, Diamond = 5 Picks, Perfect = 10 Picks. The daily limit counts cards rather than Picks, so burning a Perfect is the most value a single burn can give you. Like Combine, burned cards leave your inventory for good and burning frees that video up to be called again. You can queue up to 6 at a time, and burn up to 10 a day (20 if you're Premium).
Duels
What are Duels?
A card battle: build a Hand of 5 cards (any mix of Pick and Channel cards, as long as they have a Score) plus one optional Boost card, then fight over 4 rounds (plus a sudden-death 5th round if it's tied 2-2). Each round, the attacker and defender reveal a card and higher power wins the round (the defender wins ties), either side can spend a boost mid-round to swing it.
Battle CPU vs. Challenge a Player, what's the difference?
Battle CPU is instant, pick a difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard, or Impossible, each with bigger rewards and a tougher AI) and fight right away. Challenge a Player posts an open or targeted challenge for a real opponent to accept, it's async so your opponent has up to 24 hours to respond once it's their turn, and you can optionally attach a wager (credits, Picks, and/or specific cards) that the winner takes double of.
What are Score Cap and Rarity Gate?
Two independent options you can turn on for a more even fight, either alone or both together: Score Cap limits every card in both hands to a power budget (e.g. nothing over 500), and Rarity Gate restricts hands to one rarity only (Silver/Gold/Diamond/Perfect). Turning both on at once (say, a 500 cap with Silver only) is fully supported.
Can I save a hand and reuse it?
Yes. On the Your hand step, build the hand you want and hit ☆ Save hand to store it under a name. You get 8 slots, saved to your account (so they're there on the app and on any browser), and each one remembers the boost card too. Tap a saved hand to load it back. If a card in it has since been sold, burned, listed or is illegal under the rules you've picked for this duel, it loads everything that's still legal and tells you what it dropped. Saving under a name you've already used overwrites that slot.
How do boosts work inside a Duel?
Same rarity-based percentages as pick boosts (Silver +10%, Gold +25%, Diamond +60%, Perfect +100%), but here it's a straight power boost applied to that one card's reveal for the round, it doesn't touch your reward or Score outside the battle. It still spends one of that card's 3 total boost uses, shared with the pick-boost system.
Missions & Achievements
What are Daily Missions?
5 objectives assigned to you each day from a rotating pool, reset at midnight UTC. Each one pays its own reward when completed, and completing all 5 in one day earns an extra bonus (75 credits + a free Gold Pack) on top. You can reroll a mission you don't like up to 3 times before it locks in.
What are Monthly Missions?
10 bigger objectives assigned on the 1st of each month (midnight UTC), from a separate pool with month-scale targets and rewards. No rerolls and no complete-all bonus here, they're meant to be a longer-term side goal alongside Daily Missions.
What are Achievements?
One-time milestones across categories like Picks, Collecting, Dueling, and more, each with its own points and reward. Unlike Missions, Achievement rewards don't get handed to you automatically, once you've completed one, a Claim button appears on it (and a red counter shows on the Achievements tab whenever you have unclaimed rewards waiting). There's also a Claim All button to sweep up everything you've earned at once.
Auction House
What's the Auction House?
A real marketplace: list your cards for timed auction (with an optional instant Buy Now price), bid credits on other users' listings, search and filter by rarity/Score/serial number. You can cancel your own listing anytime before it sells. Selling takes a 10% fee out of the final sale price (5% if you're Premium), the rest goes straight to your balance.
Leveling & Profile
How does leveling up work?
Every settled pick awards XP based on that pick's final power, the better the catch, the more XP you get (there's always a small guaranteed minimum, even on a weak pick). XP fills a bar toward your next level, and each level takes a bit more XP than the last, up to a maximum of Level 100.
What do I get for leveling up?
Right now leveling up is a visible sign of how much you've played and how well you've called, shown on your profile and in the sidebar. A soft green pulse flashes across the screen whenever you level up. More rewards tied to levels may be added later.
Does XP affect my Credits or Score?
No, XP is completely separate. It doesn't change your reward payout or your card's Score, it only tracks long-term progress toward your next level.
What's the Profile Showcase?
Pick up to 6 of your favorite cards to display publicly on your profile. Use "View as others see it" to check how it looks to visitors.
Can I customize my name color and badge?
From the Profile tab: everyone can pick a badge (if eligible, e.g. Founder) and choose how their name is outlined (a soft glow, a solid stroke, or plain), Premium members can additionally pick a fully custom name color.
Premium
What do I get with Premium (VIP)?
Ad-free claims, double the Pick cap (40 instead of 20), double the daily card-burn-for-Picks cap (20 instead of 10), a VIP badge, half-price Auction House fees (5% instead of 10%), a custom profile name color, and early access to new features before general release.
What's the Founder's Pack?
A one-time purchase that grants a bundle of credits and Picks, 30 days of VIP, and the Founder title/badge forever, separate from the ongoing VIP subscription.

Privacy policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
This policy covers both the Hypecall website and the Hypecall browser extension. It explains what data we collect, why, and what we do (and don't do) with it.
1. What we collect
Account information: the username, email address, and password you provide when you create a Hypecall account. Your password is handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never visible to us in plain text.
Call data: when you call a YouTube video, we store the video's title, URL, channel name and URL, like count, and subscriber count at the time you called it. When you call a Twitch channel, we store the channel name and URL, its follower count, and its live status and viewer count at the time you called it. This is the core data the game is built on.
Gameplay data: your Picks balance, cards, credits, and other in-game state tied to your account.
2. The Hypecall browser extension
On YouTube, the extension reads the title, like count, channel, and duration of the video or Short you choose to call, directly from the page you're viewing. For Shorts, it also fetches the equivalent YouTube watch page in the background to read the exact like count (Shorts' compact player only shows an abbreviated one). On Twitch, it reads the channel name and the follower count shown on the channel page. In both cases it submits that publicly visible information to your Hypecall account the same way pasting a link into the website would. A YouTube channel's exact subscriber count and a Twitch channel's live status and viewer count are looked up through our own backend, not from the page, and the extension does not ship any third-party API key. Your login session (an authentication token) is stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local. We don't have separate access to it, and it never leaves your browser except to authenticate with our own backend.
3. What we don't collect
We don't track your general browsing history, only the specific videos and channels you choose to call. We don't collect health, financial/payment, or location data. We don't log keystrokes, mouse movement, or clicks outside of our own button. We don't use analytics trackers or advertising SDKs in the extension.
4. Where your data goes
Account and gameplay data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties except as necessary to operate Hypecall itself (for example, our hosting and database providers).
5. Your choices
